Last updated 29 August 2026. This policy describes what torontotourism.org collects, what runs on the site today, and what will change when advertising is switched on. It is written to describe the site as it actually is; where something is planned rather than live, it says so.
Who runs this site
torontotourism.org is an independently published travel guide. It is the data controller for the information described below. There is no corporate parent and no data is sold to anyone. To reach us about anything on this page, use the contact form.
What we collect
When you just read a guide
Nothing that identifies you personally is collected by us directly. The site is a set of static articles; you do not need an account, and there is nothing to log in to. Our web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, page requested, browser user agent) for security and troubleshooting, which is ordinary for any website.
When you use the contact form
The form asks for your name, email address, a subject and your message. Those fields are sent to us by email so that we can reply. We keep the correspondence only for as long as it takes to deal with what you wrote about, and we do not add you to any mailing list — there is no newsletter on this site.
Comments
Comments are closed on every article and no comment form is displayed anywhere on the site, so no commenter data is collected or stored.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics 4, connected through the Site Kit by Google plugin, to see which guides are read and where visitors arrive from. This sets Google Analytics cookies and reports aggregated measurement data to Google. We use it to decide what to write and what to update; we do not use it to identify individual readers, and we do not combine it with any other data. Google’s own handling of that data is described in its Privacy Policy, and its use of data from sites that use its services is described at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google’s browser add-on.
Advertising
No advertising is currently served on this site. There is no ad code on any page as of the date at the top of this policy. The site is being prepared to carry display advertising through Google AdSense, and this section describes what will apply once that is live. This policy will be updated on the day advertising begins.
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also serve ads on this site and set their own cookies.
- Before advertising is served to visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a Google-certified consent management platform will be enabled so that consent for advertising and measurement cookies is requested first. Until that is in place, no advertising cookies are set by this site.
Cookies
Cookies currently set on this site come from Google Analytics, as described above, and from the caching layer the host uses to serve pages quickly. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the guides will still work normally without them.
Third-party links
Guides link out constantly — to the TTC, to restaurant and attraction websites, to festival organisers, to Parks Canada and the City of Toronto. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we have no control over what they collect. This policy covers only torontotourism.org.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to processing, and to complain to your national data protection authority. If you are in California, you have the right to know what personal information is collected and to ask that it be deleted; we do not sell personal information. In practice the only personal data this site holds is contact-form correspondence, and we will delete it on request. Write via the contact form.
Children
This site is written for adults planning travel and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
When something material changes — most immediately, when advertising goes live — this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
